the Ivy Centre

No two days are ever the same at Ivy, there is no set routine. We understand that  each and every person attending is different, as is their character and personality.

Anyone spending time at Ivy has the opportunity to shape their experience and we offer many varied activities to suit each individual and their interests and hobbies.

What activities do you offer in your sessions?

With an emphasis on fun, our clients can enjoy a host of activities including darts, pool, table tennis, arts & crafts, dancing, woodwork, pottery and much more! A session could involve a lively game of dominoes or a sing-along around the piano, giant jenga or quizzes.... but the days are always client-led.

Alongside the organised activities, our staff or ‘companions’ as they are known’ engage our clients in conversation and focus closely on redeveloping lost skills. All this happens within the framework of a care plan specifically developed for the needs and desires of the individual.

Is lunch provided?

All refreshments and lunch is provided. Food is cooked on the premises to maintain freshness and quality, we are also rated 5* by the Foods Standards Agency.

We cater for all dietary requirements and food allergies.

Are you a residential home?

We are a multi-award winning day support centre. Clients come to us from care homes or from their own homes. We provide care and recreation for those who cannot be fully independent.

Is a formal diagnosis required to attend Ivy?

We do not require any formal diagnosis to attend.

How does Ivy differ from other day centers?

Ivy delivers a unique product, which is hugely different from what is available elsewhere. We pride ourselves on creating a home-from-home environment for all visitors and their families alike. Our carers are called ‘companions’. No-one wears a uniform, and everyone is seen as equal. Our approach is totally holistic, tactile and loving.

We strive to make improvements in well-being and enhance the quality of life of the individual as well as his or her carer. In many cases, this means that home life can be continued for much longer than would otherwise be the case.

Are you a charity or volunteer organisation?

Ivy is neither a charity nor volunteer organisation.

The Ivy Dementia Centre is a privately-owned, multi-award winning, professional service dedicated solely to providing day support to people and families living with dementia.
